FILLMORE, Calif. – Following the resignation of District 1 Councilmember Luis Rodriguez, the Fillmore City Council has appointed Mario Rodriguez to fill the District 1 vacancy. The appointment took place during the November 12, 2025, City Council meeting. Rodriguez will be officially sworn in at the December 9 City Council meeting and will serve for the remainder of the term through November 2026, when the seat will be open for election. |
![]() On Friday, November 14, at 6:02 p.m., Fillmore Police Department, Fillmore City Fire, and AMR Paramedics were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision on Ventura Street in front of El Dorado Mobile Homes. ![]() Pictured is Fillmore Mayor Villasenor presenting the award of Trunk or Treat 2025 to Second Wave Physical Therapy at last week’s city council meeting held Wednesday, November 12. The 2025 City of Fillmore Trunk or Treat event was a huge success, with several participating organizations noting what appeared to be the highest attendance yet. This year, we had 27 amazing trunks enter the competition, each one showing incredible creativity and Halloween spirit. A total of 275 people cast their votes, making this one of our most competitive years so far. Second Wave Physical Therapy received the most votes and this marks their second year in a row winning the Trunk or Treat Competition! ![]() On Thursday, November 13, at 10:22 a.m., the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Ventura County Fire, and California Highway Patrol were dispatched to a vehicle fire on Old Telegraph Road near SR126. Arriving firefighters reported a trash truck with light smoke showing. Original call to 911 advised the driver was trapped but later confirmed incorrect. According to the National Weather Service Fillmore showed a 5-day total of 5.94”, Piru 5.13”, and Lake Piru 6.78”. Precip.ai/rainfall showed Fillmore 6.91. Ventura County Watershed (see graph) reported 6.47”, bringing the season total to date as of 11/18/25 to 7.94”, with normal to date, 1.98”. County of Ventura, California. – The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office was awarded a $455,000.00 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS). The grant will support our ongoing enforcement and education programs to help reduce the number of serious injuries and deaths on our roads. The grant program runs through September 2026 and is distributed among our five contract cities: Ojai, Fillmore, Camarillo, Moorpark, and Thousand Oaks. |

VENTURA, Calif. – Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that Jose Zavala (DOB 06/13/85), of Fillmore, was convicted by a jury of four felony counts of sexual abuse against two minor victims. Zavala was found guilty of three counts of lewd acts upon a child and one count of continuous sexual abuse. Several special allegations were also found true, including that he took advantage of a position of trust or confidence and that the victims were particularly vulnerable. |
![]() Tuesday, November 11, 2025, was the annual Fillmore-Piru Veteran’s Day celebration on downtown Central Avenue. The Fillmore & Piru communities gathered to honor the brave men and women who have served our country. The Veteran’s Day Parade featured local organizations, Fillmore High School marching band, community groups, and honored veterans. Leading this year’s parade as Grand Marshal was Mark Dominguez, a retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant and interim Fillmore Police Chief and Peace Officer, recognized for his exemplary service to both his country and community. ![]() Following the Veterans Day Parade a luncheon was held at Fillmore Middle School. The Annual Veterans Day Ceremony began at 1:30 p.m. This year’s speaker was Fillmore City Councilman and U.S. Navy Veteran John Garnica, who shared a reflection on service, sacrifice, and community. The event remains one of Fillmore’s most cherished traditions, uniting generations in gratitude and remembrance. This year’s event served 130 people.
